Australian cloud specialist Macquarie Technology Group has flagged the purchase of an A$240M land parcel in Sydney to build an engineering and technology campus and ~200-megawatt data centre.

According to the firm, the ~34,200sqm Sydney site will offer practical opportunities for students and researchers to use cutting edge data centre, cyber, AI, and cloud technologies in conjunction with Macquarie University.
It will use advanced air-cooling tech with limited water use, include a one-acre community park transforming a neglected part of the industrial site, with plans for a new outdoor art gallery to showcase the creative talent of the local community.

The campus will be located in the innovation district of Sydney’s Macquarie Park and is scheduled to be completed in late calendar year 2029 subject to planning and other approvals.
